My favorite holiday

     Christmas is my  favorite holiday,so I want to write how we celebrate Christmas Eve.

      Christmas Eve is the day before Christmas Day. Christmas Eve is celebrated on December 24. That day is one of the most important days in Christian’s life. Polish families start preparing for this holiday long time before this day comes. The most important tasks include preparing good food, decorating Christmas tree, celebrating dinner and going to the church.

      In Poland, traditional Christmas Eve meal includes twelve different dishes. That day we prepare food with out meat. The main dish is carp. We also prepare lot of different salads, fish soups, Borscht, Pierogis, Golabki, and pickled herrings. Before eating everyone exchanges Christmas greetings with each other by giving a piece of Christmas wafer (Oplatki) .Every one has to try every single dish to avoid bad luck for next year.

      On the Christmas Eve almost every Polish family place and decorate Christmas trees in their houses. We decorate the tree with gingerbread human figures, animal figures and colorful ornaments. We also put on the tree lights to symbolize the new coming life of Jesus Christ. One of other customs of Christmas Eve is giving gifts to each other .The gifts are given when the first star is noticed on the sky. That star identifies with the star of Bethlehem. This is the most interesting part of Christmas Eve for everyone, especially for children.

         Later people attend Midnight Mass to solemnly celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. We spend about two hours in the church, we sing and pray.

      Christmas Eve is one of the most important holydays .This is family holyday, because everyone get together and spend time with each other. This is the most wonderful time of the year. People enjoy preparing food for Christmas; they also like to decorate Christmas tree and eating special dinner with their family, and going to the church to celebrate Jesus birth. This extraordinary day ends in church where prayers are shared with priest and other Catholics.

deffrences betwen girls and boys

                 

               In my Polish culture boys, and girls are treated differently. When parents find out they will have baby girl or baby boy they will decorate their room in a different way regarding to the gender. As girls and boys growing up, more differences can be found: the girls will play with dolls, play houses, princesses, peak gentle and kind, and act feminine. The boys, on the other hand, will play with cars, have rough pretended play, and act more masculine.

                   In my country, Poland, boys and girls are playing together. However, sometimes boys will play with girls that sport like soccer. I remember to be part of that mixed soccer team. But mostly boys liked to compete with one another for leadership, the same as in the United States.

      Girls in Poland, in contrast to girls in the United States, like to play in larger groups. Interestingly enough they like to differentiate themselves as individuals by looking different. They like to have their own style of wearing clothes. For   example through individual style of clothing, and they do not like to copy their friends. In the same way may be interested by playing fairly and taking turns. In my country we can easely recognize girls or boys, through the spoken language, which differentiate masculine and feminine gender through the conjugation of nouns. The feminine ending in Poland is –la, for masculine is –il. In similarities, in the United States girls like to talk with each other a lot about other people and their lives.

       The most obvious in Polish culture between genders is fact that girls are treated by their parents more gently; when they fall we ask them how they feel, is everything all right. On the other hand, in the same situation with a boy, we would say: he will be fine. Since the beginning of our parenting we differentiate between girls and boys through their play with different toys, wearing different clothes that

distinguishes gender not only through color bout also, stale ,for example pants versus skirts or dresses; sports they are playing, and later on in life though the choice of work they are going to choose.

        Summarizing, the differences, between girls and boys are part of growing up in any culture not only in the United States. What is most important is the fact that this gender stereotype in somehow controlled and influenced by the society, culture and religion we are living in. If we got to learn and understand them we will be able to communicate better with each other

My best role model

All of us at some point in our lives become influenced by others. We look up to, not only famous people, but also those close to us.  A positive example of a role model in my own experience helped me to form important ideas about my future. The one who inspired me the most was my good friend, Ewa. She helped me to shape my ideas about education, my goals, how to get alone with others and how to take responsabilit                                                                                   

   I   met Ewa about six years ago in Norwalk Hospital, not long after I arrived in this country. We started to work together at the rehabilitation unit at Norwalk Hospital. That was, for both of us, the first experience with nursing and patient care. We worked as a Patient Care Technician, but Ewa decided to go back to school and become a Registered Nurse. In order to fulfill her dreams, she started attending Norwalk Community Collage. At that time she was encouraging me to go to school with her.  It was not possible for me to start school, because I had a baby who was only two month old. and I couldn’t leave her,  When Ewa attended NCC classes, she was studying and working at the same time. She also had a family to take care of, which included a husband and two kids .I had seen her struggle so much, but Ewa was always a very strong and motivated person. She managed to graduate from college. It took her a long time, about five years to achieve her goal, but she did it and now she is a successful Registered Nurse at Norwalk Hospitals . She was determinate and that was how she become a wonderful nurse .Ewa is the person who has motivated me to go back to school and start studying towards nursing. She has really inspired me that studying is the key to success. She helped me shaped my ideas for my future.

  Ewa has wonderful personality .She is the person that taught me how to get along with others. Ewa came to the United States about twenty years ago from, Poland and she knew how to deal well with other people .Ewa was always very supportive when I had problems .She helped me to deal with them. At the rehabilitation unit where we work together, we sometimes have a hard time with our patients but we always work as a team and support each other. Even when she becomes a Registered Nurse and she had more responsibilities, she still finds time to help me. She listens, to the patients and has very good heart . I would like to follow her example and have her positive attitude towards life and other people. She has taught me how to get along with others.

 Responsibility is another quality of my friend Ewa. I watch her every time she is with patients and she makes sure they have everything they need. She sits down next to the patient rooms and does her paper work. At the same time she watches them so they won’t fall out of bed. She always gives out her medications on time and she spends lots of time with her patients. All  the time she keeps her promises and delivers what patients ask for. I think she is a very responsible person. She taught me that value so I can follow her model.

   In conclusion, there are many people who could be a good role model, but my friend Ewa is one of my best. She is a very positive role model for myself and others .She influenced me with her good attitude and good heart. She         helped me to form my ideas about my education. She taught me how to deal with others and she trained me how to be responsible .She is always there for me. She   has an ability to comfort and calm her patients like no one else can. She has special touch that put people at peace. She is just wonderful.

My froud incident

Fraud is an international deception made for personal gain or demage another individual.Defrouding people of money is I assume the most common type of fraud.I had a bad experience with money fraud.At first,i saw on my billing statment two outstanding balances.I git a little upset,and suspicious,because I had never spent that amount of money in one day.I checked my purse,and I was not missing anything ,all my credit cards were in place.I called my husband, and I asked him if he had made any purchases on my credit card.He said that he had not used it.Then I called my credit card company.I had told them what happened ,so they closed my account immediatly.After a few days ,I recived a letter from them.They said in the correspondence that this outstanding amount was under investigation.I called them few times ,but they were not able to tel me who could be the person who had used my credit card.I only found out that my credit card had been used twice in diffrent states.Somebody had placed telephone orders,and he knew all my information.He knew my credit card numbers and my address,but not socila security number.The credit card company also removed that outstanding balances from my statment,so I did not have to pay that balance.I think any types of fraud are bad .To use individual's credit card,socill security number,address or any personal information is illegal.People must treat each other with honesty.We should respect and believe one other.

Gifts

Gifts are things that people buy for each other on special occasions.They are mean to be special because the person who bought it for you cares about you,loves you and want  you to be happy .We usually recive or given gifts on holidays,like Christmas ,Hannukkah,or birthday.Gifts can be anything like toys,perfumes,flowers,kitchenware,candy or pets.
I remember one special gift that I gave to my brother last winter.My brother had always wanted cat,so for his birthday my parents and I bought him a pretty brown,red and black colored kitten.He was very happy when he receive the gift and he named the kitten Lola. Lola  was very special to him because she was his first pet.Then one day Lola didn't come back home from outside.My brother was very sad that he couldn't find her and he cried.He still misses her today.That is one example of how gifts can be important to people.I think it is very nice to recive gifts,but it is even better to give them to our friends,parents or needed people and be able to see how those gifts can make them happy.Especially in winter time we  have to try to help other people,by donate clothes,food fof homeless.Also we have to remember about our family,so on Christmas timr everybody can find something special under the Christmas tree.I also think that more important then the gift is love and warmth that can give to each other and also the filling that they care about as like we care about them.

children punishment

The conseqences of wrong behavior should be explained to and understood by the children,before they disobey.This way way children knows what is expected from them.Children has to fill guilty of what they done wrong.The punishment has to be executed as soon as possible,so the children can fill guilty for what they did wrong.The way of punishment has to give them time to think about it so nex time they will think before they do some bad thinks.Hiting or body painful punishment is not the best way to fines children.Sometimes other ways are made better improvment and the children are change for better.For example,in my country guilty kids has to work in stores without paid,they have to help elderly people.Most common punishment right now in my country is to make them work for society: they have to pick up garbage from the streets,cleans parks or parks or planted flowers.I think this is the most painful punishmant for them.because they think that they been humiliating from the society.Another thing ,is so many countries children who sentence in prison for murder are being locked up in prisons and jails with hardened criminals.Thrown into a prison life of violence and brutality,those kids are easy pray for criminals who are bigger,stronger and mach tougher.I think children should not be put in the same prison as adults.They have to be in different correction facilities just for kids with a big troubles.I think that,because children are inable to defend themselves and many of them are beaten and raped by adults prisoners.Most of them will live prison with mental illnesses and some will learn how to be better criminals.Some of those children in prison are from troble families and they making their parents mistakes,because no one was able to show them the good ways of some solving problems.Sometimes they actions are very tragic and other people get hurt but we have to remember that children are imitate adults and adults has to take responsibility for they children behavior as well.I think punis kids is a good way to teach them behave.I think that this is also a society problem to educate children and help them grow in healty and safe environament.I disagree with keeping children in prison with adults ,because they mentaly will be change on the wrong way.We also have to stop the valionce in movies and video games,we have to say stop to war so the world can become a better place to live and our children will have better life.

children punishment

Children are human beings and have the same rights as anyone else.I am a mother of two beautiful kids that way I decide to write something about it.
I belive children are also the most vulerble members of society and and is society duty to protect them and they rights.Sometimes children not behave and made very bad mistakes,including killing other humans beings.In very early age they become a criminals.I belive this is not only they fault,but adults as well.Is so many valiolence and murders in our world today and is hard to procetc our children from them.It's so many ways to punish our kids but putting them in the jail is the most stronger punishment.
First of all ,we should tezch our kids what is wrong and what is right.We should teach them that every one has  to be respect.From early age parents should spend lots of time with they children .Instead of buying a violence games,or watching a violence movies, they should talk to they children,play games or going on the bike rides.Perents should be always  in children 's life and be alweys when the kids need them.

Dreams about America

Second,from many Americans movies and TV ,I got the idea that many Americans are rich and their live is much easier.I also thought that they enjoyed every day and every minute of their life.I thought that they lived beautiful houses with swimming pools and tennis courts.Fast cars ,beautiful boats, private planes ,exotic vacations were a part of their life.I was so disappointed when I find out that just a few Americans are really rich and other part are just regural hard working people.I also was so suprised that there are many homeless people lived in the strets with out of help from others and out of opportunity of better life.I also heard when I was living in my country that America has a very good education system.People whu graduated collages in America have better start in life and also better opportunity for finding a good job.When I come to the U.S,I was supriced of many opportunities to choose a school.All those schools have very interested programs and I was able to find out that schools in the United  States have flexible schedules so students are able to work and study .On the other hand ,I found out that schools in the United States are very expensive and not everyone can afford it.Sometimes to finish a collage here can take a lot of years.
After I leared more about America my dreams changed drastically .Some places we have to see in person so we can get the ideas about it.Even the United States is a beautiful continentand most people have a lot of money but there is also the other side of it,where people don't have enough time,because they are so busy with the jobs.Where poor people living on the streets with no help from others,and where education is so expensive and not everone can afford it.

Dreams about America

For people who live in Europe America is a very exciting country to visit .In my country a couple years ago papole tink that has nice lookind cities,people  leading rich and relaxed life and in this country you can get the best education in the world.Most of those  ideas about life in the United States pople took mostly from the movies and TV.Before i come here I also had those ideas about life here..First of all,I was very interested to see the United States in person so that i could see for my self what the country is really like.Most of my experiences have been in New York City.New York City is very exciting place.Walking betwen the tall buldings is beautiful experience to me.I love the amaizing archicture and sculptues.Whwn I went to the Mwtropolitan Museum of Art, I felt I was stepping back in time .The beauty of the art was beyond my worlds.At the same time the people I passed were all rushing somewhere.For some of them, excitement
looked more like anger ,stress and coldness.While I saw a lot of beauty,I also saw a lot of agliness.Many streets were covered with flying news paper ,garbage cans were full and no one take care of them .The air in New York is very dirty.Many people drives cars and taxis and the exhaust from the hundreds of busses  pollute  every day the air.Also,no place I had the opportunity to visited had such a traffic problem.A cars sits there in a long lines ,the pollution gets worse.
